Resumo: | Spatial characteristics are related to the level of mobility and accessibility of people inserted in a given society. In low-density areas, transport faces more specific challenges such as urban sprawling, long-distance travel, and sometimes a precarious road system. These challenges, when associated with some socioeconomic profiles, may create transport disadvantage and inhibition of access to vital activities, and in some cases risk of exclusion. Given that, the main topic of this work is focused on groups of transport disadvantage residents of low-density areas, mainly rural and peri-urban areas. It was also performed analysis in the way socioeconomic profiles affect transport disadvantage and may relate to social exclusion. Data were collected by a survey applied to 75 residents of rural and peri-urban regions of the city of Itirapina, São Paulo, Brazil. Statistical analyses were performed in SPSS IBM. Results indicate that women, the elderly, students, low-income individuals, lower members in the family structure, unemployed, individuals without driver’s license or automobiles are more susceptible to transport disadvantage. It can be highlighted that individuals without a driver's license present more differences related to transport disadvantage when compared with those with a driver's license. Regarding travel characterization, transport disadvantage individuals present different behavior of trips. They usually present fewer alternatives for their commute regarding transport mode. Also, the ones in transport disadvantage situation tended to perform their commute more often in times in which Transports for Rural Schools were available. This tendency evidenced a higher dependency on this mode of transport. Lastly, it was found a relationship between transport disadvantage and dimensions of social exclusion. After all, this research can benefit the studied area in terms of formulation of transport guidelines and promotion of social inclusion to residents most affected by transport disadvantage. |

After all, this research can benefit the studied area in terms of formulation of transport guidelines and promotion of social inclusion to residents most affected by transport disadvantage.As características espaciais estão relacionadas com o nível de mobilidade e de acessibilidade dos indivíduos na sociedade em que estão inseridos. Em áreas de baixa densidade, o transporte apresenta desafios mais específicos como a dispersão espacial e viagens de longa distância. Tais características, quando associadas aos perfis socioeconômicos dos moradores, podem torna-los desfavorecidos no transporte e inibir o acesso a atividades vitais, sujeitando-os em alguns casos ao risco de exclusão. Nesta discussão, o objetivo principal desta pesquisa foi identificar os grupos desfavorecidos de transporte em áreas de baixa densidade, sobretudo rurais e urbanas afastadas. Também, buscou-se analisar como os perfis socioeconômicos se comportam perante doze desvantagens no transporte e a relação dos mesmos com a exclusão social. Em termos metodológicos, utilizou-se um questionário como instrumento de pesquisa, no qual foi aplicado a 75 moradores nos setores censitários rurais e periubanos do município de Itirapina – São Paulo. As análises dos dados foram realizadas com o auxílio do software estatístico SPSS IBM. Como resultado, os grupos socioeconômicos mais propensos a serem desfavorecidos de transporte na região foram as mulheres, idosos, estudantes, indivíduos de baixa renda, a baixa colocação na estrutura familiar, sem emprego, sem CNH e sem posse veicular como aqueles. Destaca-se que os indivíduos sem habilitação para conduzir veículos são aqueles que apresentaram um maior número de diferenças quanto aos problemas de transporte, quando comparados com os que possuíam CNH. No que tange a caracterização de viagens, observou-se que os indivíduos desfavorecidos de transporte se comportam de modo diferente aos demais, sobretudo no que se refere a menor variedade de modos de transporte utilizados nos deslocamentos. Também, os desfavorecidos se deslocaram mais no horário de circulação dos Transporte Escolares Rurais, evidenciando uma dependência deste modo. Por fim, constatou-se a existência da relação entre os desfavorecidos de transporte e as dimensões de exclusão social. A elaboração desta pesquisa pode trazer benefícios a área, servindo como base para a elaboração de diretrizes de planejamento de transporte e promovendo a inclusão social a população mais afetada em termos de transporte.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)porUniversidade Federal de São CarlosCâmpus São CarlosPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Urbana - PPGEUUFSCarDesfavorecidos de transporteExclusão socialÁreas rurais e periurbanasComportamento de viagensTransport disadvantageSocial exclusionRural and peri-urban areasTravel behaviorENGENHARIAS::ENGENHARIA CIVILENGENHARIAS::ENGENHARIA DE TRANSPORTESTransporte e exclusão social: um estudo de caso nas áreas rurais e periurbanas da cidade de Itirapina – SPTransport and social exclusion: a case study of the rural and peri-urban areas of Itirapina - São Pauloinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisOnline6006004f69e983-60c8-4282-90e8-79960e21b9b3info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFSCARinstname:Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR)instacron:UFSCARORIGINALCamila Umbelino Carvalho - Dissertação (Mestrado).pdfCamila Umbelino Carvalho - Dissertação (Mestrado).pdfArquivo contendo a versão final da dissertaçãoapplication/pdf2528981https://repositorio.ufscar.br/bitstream/ufscar/11730/2/Camila%20Umbelino%20Carvalho%20-%20Disserta%c3%a7%c3%a3o%20%28Mestrado%29.pdf439dcda0096aa97cc95b228a43cd8293MD52LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
