Resumo: | The present research provides a historical overview of educational policies for teacher training in Brazil from the colonial period to the present day. Through a literature review, a historical retrieval of the key moments shaping the trajectory of teacher education in Brazil is conducted. The adopted assumption is that, by examining past events, it becomes possible to comprehend the decisions made by government officials regarding current educational policies, influencing factors, and their determinants. The text is the outcome of a research project entitled “Public Policies for Teacher Training in Basic Education in Brazil”, currently underway at the Federal University of Paraná, Palotina Campus. Its objective is to analyze the main aspects of the educational policy for both initial and ongoing teacher training in Brazil. Through the outlined scope, the intention was to construct an analytical timeline, highlighting and addressing important aspects of the subject. In conclusion, it is pointed out that throughout history, significant advancements have occurred, with important issues remaining to be addressed. |

A través de una revisión de la literatura, se lleva a cabo una recuperación histórica de los principales momentos que marcan la trayectoria de la formación de maestros en Brasil. El supuesto adoptado es que, al mirar los eventos pasados, es posible comprender las decisiones tomadas por los gobernantes con respecto a las políticas educativas actuales, los factores de influencia y sus determinantes. El texto es el resultado del proyecto de investigación titulado “Políticas públicas de formación docente para la educación básica en Brasil”, que se está desarrollando en la Universidad Federal de Paraná, en el Campus de Palotina. Su objetivo es analizar los aspectos principales de la política educativa de formación inicial y continua de profesores en Brasil. A través del recorte presentado aquí, se pretendía construir una línea de tiempo analítica, destacando y problematizando puntos importantes del objeto de estudio. Al final, se señala que a lo largo de la historia ha habido avances significativos, pero todavía quedan cuestiones importantes por resolver.A presente pesquisa traz um panorama histórico das políticas educacionais de formação docente desde o período colonial até os dias atuais. Por meio de revisão de literatura, realiza-se um resgate histórico dos principais momentos que marcam a trajetória da formação de professores no Brasil. O pressuposto adotado é o de que, ao olhar para os acontecimentos passados, torna-se possível compreender as decisões tomadas pelos governantes referentes a políticas educacionais atuais, fatores de influência e seus determinantes. O texto é fruto do projeto de pesquisa intitulado “Políticas públicas de formação docente para a educação básica no Brasil”, em desenvolvimento na Universidade Federal do Paraná, Setor Palotina. O mesmo tem como objetivo analisar os principais aspectos da política educacional de formação inicial e continuada de professores no Brasil. Por meio do recorte aqui apresentado, pretendeu-se construir uma linha do tempo analítica, destacando e problematizando pontos importantes do objeto.
