ADVANCES AND CHALLENGES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ANTI RACIST EDUCATION IN BRAZIL

Resumo: | Considering the current context of the 20th anniversary of the Law 10,639/2003 and 15th of the Law 11,645/2008, this article offers an analysis of the advances and challenges that permeate the implementation of Antiracist Education in Brazil. In the first section, we discuss racism as complex phenomenon, structural and multidimensional, whose approach in the school context requires teachers equipped with specific theoretical and methodological tools and racial literacy. In the second section, we examine recent publications that map the main difficulties in implementing anti-racist education in schools and that point to an important gap regarding racial issues in teacher education. In the third section, focusing on the perspective of future teachers, we analyze the perception of undergraduate students at the University of Brasília regarding the subject Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations as a curricular component in the initial education of teachers. The triangulated examination of these three analytical dimensions points to a mutually reinforcing relationship between the gaps in the initial training of teachers and the difficulties in teaching African, Afro-Brazilian and indigenous histories and cultures in basic education. The absence and/or irregular or non-mandatory provision of curricular components aimed at training future teachers appears as an obstacle to implementing antiracist approaches to Brazilian cultural diversity in our education systems. |

En el primer apartado, buscamos posicionar el racismo como un fenómeno complejo, de carácter estructural y multidimensional, cuyo abordaje en el contexto escolar requiere docentes dotados de aportes teóricos y metodológicos específicos y de alfabetización racial. En la segunda sección, examinamos publicaciones recientes que mapean las principales dificultades para implementar la educación antirracista en las escuelas y que señalan una brecha importante en materia de cuestiones raciales en el campo de la formación docente. En la tercera sección, centrándonos en la perspectiva de los futuros docentes, analizamos la percepción de los estudiantes de pregrado de la Universidad de Brasilia sobre la asignatura Educación en Relaciones Étnico-Raciales como componente curricular en la formación inicial de docentes. El examen triangulado de estas tres dimensiones analíticas apunta a una relación que se refuerza mutuamente entre las brechas en la formación inicial de los docentes y las dificultades para enseñar historias y culturas africanas, afrobrasileñas e indígenas en la educación básica. La ausencia y/o la provisión irregular y no obligatoria de componentes curriculares destinados a la formación de futuros docentes aparece como un obstáculo para abordajes cualificados de la diversidad cultural brasileña, encaminados a refundar, sobre bases antirracistas, nuestras relaciones étnico-racistas.Considerando o contexto de celebração dos 20 anos da Lei 10.639/2003 e dos 15 anos da Lei 11.645/2008, o presente artigo oferece uma análise sobre os avanços e os desafios que perpassam a implementação da Educação Antirracista no Brasil. Na primeira seção, buscamos posicionar o racismo como um fenômeno complexo, de caráter estrutural e multidimensional, cuja abordagem no contexto escolar exige professoras/es municiadas/os com aportes teóricos e metodológicos específicos e letramento racial. Na segunda seção, examinamos publicações recentes que mapearam as principais dificuldades para a implementação da educação antirracista nas escolas e que sinalizam uma importante lacuna relativa à questão racial no campo da formação docente. Na terceira seção, focalizando a perspectiva de futuras/os professoras/es, analisamos a percepção de estudantes da graduação da Universidade de Brasília acerca da disciplina Educação das Relações Étnico-Raciais como componente curricular na formação inicial de professoras/es. O exame triangulado dessas três dimensões analíticas aponta para uma relação de mútuo reforço entre as lacunas na formação inicial de professoras/es e as dificuldades para o ensino das histórias e culturas africanas, afro-brasileiras e indígenas na educação básica.
