Resumo: The literature on the Brazilian Homosexual Movement (MHB) is based on the idea of a founding myth. It does not integrate the artisanal gay press, the ephemeral actions and those prevented by the dictatorship. Thus, it neglects the historical process and the challenge of overcoming a deteriorated identity (COLAÇO-RODRIGUES, 2022). Understanding that the social movement category encompasses all phases, including the embryonic one (GOHN, 2008, p. 259), this article examines national and international gay journals, the debate about this press in Lampião, the reference literature on the subject and demonstrates that it was not “limited to good-natured parody […]” (MACRAE, 2018, p. 165), but participated in building the political awareness of homosexuals, thus integrating the MHB.

(MACRAE, 2018, p. 165). Eles participaram efetivamente na construção da consciência política dos homossexuais, integrando, portanto, o MHB.SciELO PreprintsSciELO PreprintsSciELO Preprints2023-05-09info:eu-repo/semantics/preprintinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/preprint/view/546410.1590/SciELOPreprints.5464porhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/article/view/5464/11663Copyright (c) 2023 Rita de Cassia Colaço-Rodrigueshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessColaço-Rodrigues, Rita de Cassiareponame:SciELO Preprintsinstname:Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO)instacron:SCI2023-01-19T17:59:51Zoai:ops.preprints.scielo.org:preprint/5464Servidor de preprintshttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scieloONGhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/oaiscielo.submission@scielo.orgopendoar:2023-01-19T17:59:51SciELO Preprints - Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO)false
