Resumo: The main goal of this scoping review is to analyze the production of empirical studies worldwide which are targeted at the relation between gender issues and early childhood, published until the year 2020. The search was carried out in journals namely SciELO, PubMed, CAPES, and Web of Science, by joining the descriptors 'Early Childhood' and 'Gender' in titles of related articles; and followed recommendations by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). It was found that the theme is theorized, as of the perspective of developed countries; and that the educational area, the one which contributes the most, and investigates gender relations in the context of Early Childhood Education, points to the influence of gender stereotyping in the educators' pedagogical practices. In addition, in spite of the fact that therewas a large production in the last decade, the theme still lacks studies that should bring up other social issues, such as the ones of race and class.
