EVALUATION OF THREE CORIANDER (Coriandrum salivam L.) CULTIVARS IN TWO SOWING PERIODS

Resumo: Coriander is an aromatic and medicinal plant of great importante. The grains and leaves are marketed, used in pharmaceutical industry, and as seasoning. The aim of this work was to identify differences among cultivars and sowing periods. The experiments were carried out in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul. The seeds of the cultivars Verdão, Português and Nacional Palmeira were submitted to the germination standard test. In the evaluation of the sowing periods, the treatments were arranged in a factorial 3 x 2 (cultivars x sowing periods, April and August). A randomized complete-block design, white Eive replications was used. The seeds presented low gennination (19-40%). 'Nacional Palmeira' had early flowering. The best sowing date was in autumn. 'Verdão' presented higher yield in the two sowing dates, and the cultivar Português, with two cuttings, provided the highest number of marketable bunches.

O coentro é uma planta aromática e medicinal de grande importância. Dele são comercializados os grãos e folhas, utilizados como condimento e na indústria farmacêutica. Este trabalho objetivou identificar diferenças entre cultivares e a melhor época de plantio. Os experimentos foram realizados em Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul. As sementes dos cultivares Verdão, Português e Nacional Palmeira foram submetidas ao teste padrão de germinação. Na avaliação de diferentes épocas de semeadura, os tratamentos foram organizados em um fatorial três cultivares x duas épocas (abril e agosto), sendo utilizado delineamento completamente casualizado, com cinco repetições. As sementes apresentaram baixo poder germinativo (19-40%). O cultivar Nacional Palmeira apresentou florescimento mais precoce e a melhor época de semeadura foi no outono. O cultivar Verdão obteve maior rendimento nas duas épocas e o cultivar Português, com dois cortes, rendeu maior número de molhos comercializáveis.
