Resumo: Objective: to know the scientific evidence of social representations about healthy eating in the eating behavior of the elderly. Method: this is an integrative literature review, performing searches in portals and databases: Virtual Health Library, SciELO, Web of Science, SCOPUS and PUBMED. Studies available in Portuguese, English or Spanish with an elderly population (age ≥60 years), without filters for year of publication and directly related to the topic were included. Publications not available electronically in full and that did not answer the research question were excluded. Information regarding author(s)/year of publication, type of study/sample, objective, and main results were extracted. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed using the Critical Appraisal Skill Program and Agency for Health Care and Research and Quality instruments. To delineate the selection of articles, the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses flowchart was used, in addition to the participation of two researchers simultaneously and independently. Results: The main results “denounce” the scarcity of studies that address the social representations of food, exclusively for the elderly. Three groups were classified for the description of social representations: those related to food; those linked to the disease that emanated the concern with food; and food represented socially as a concern for health and well-being. Conclusion: the social representations about healthy eating in the elderly's eating behavior is a complex, limited and little-discussed topic, however, indirectly, it was possible to glimpse social representations related to the theme.

A qualidade metodológica dos estudos foi avaliada pelos instrumentos Critical Appraisal Skill Programme e Agency for Health care and Research and Quality.
