Resumo: OBJECTIVE: To describe the nursing care offered to people suspected and/or diagnosed with Covid-19 in health services at the gateway to the health system. METHODS: This is a scoping review, following the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology. Articles published in the IBECS databases were included; CINAHL; MEDLINE; LILACS; PubMed; Web of Science, from January 2020 to June 2021, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, excluding bibliographic reviews, opinion articles, theses, dissertations and editorials. For the search, the Boolean operator “AND” and “OR” was used. The following search terms were used: Nursing care; Ambulatory Care; Healthcare Organization; Patient Care Planning; Emergency Medical Services; COVID-19; pandemic. After selecting the studies, the references were exported to the web application StArt (State of the Art through Systematic Review), for the selection of studies at two levels, by reading titles and abstracts, followed by reading the article in full. PRISMA was used for data extraction. RESULTS: 16 articles were included. The work process of nursing professionals underwent changes in the pandemic context, with changes in vestment protocols and patient management, in addition to changes, they faced overload of care, fear of illness and isolation. CONCLUSION: The importance of training nursing professionals is highlighted, so that, with greater technical knowledge, they can determine the best strategies and changes in the work process of the gateway services in the health system, together with public policies for the facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
