Resumo: This article aims to present an analysis of the journey of creation, implementation, and development of the film section of the National Archives of Brazil (AN). From this perspective, it intends to focus on an aspect that marked the work experience of that section and served as a guide for the initiatives carried out in relation to the preservation and management of its film collection: the influence of the film treatment model employed in the activities carried out by cinematheques in Brazil — Cinemateca Brasileira, in São Paulo, and Cinemateca do MAM, in Rio de Janeiro — in implementing the management of the collection of films in the National Archives. The article will be based on the presentation of the journey of the film section of the National Archives, from that moment of modernization through which the institution was going, in the early 1980s, in two analytical movements. The first, systematizing the information collected by researching documents in the AN itself, focusing on the first years of implementation of the film section; the second, underlining the relations with the cinematheques in this process and its impacts on the constitution of the film section itself.

Desde esta perspectiva, se pretende centrar la atención en un aspecto que marcó la experiencia de trabajo de la citada sección y que sirvió de guía a las iniciativas llevadas a cabo en relación con la preservación y gestión de su acervo fílmico: la influencia del modelo de tratamiento fílmico empleado en las actividades desarrolladas por las filmotecas de Brasil - Cinemateca Brasileira, en São Paulo, y Cinemateca do MAM, en Río de Janeiro - en la implementación de la gestión del acervo fílmico del Archivo Nacional. El artículo se basará en la presentación de la trayectoria de la sección de cine del Archivo Nacional, desde el momento de la modernización experimentada por la institución a principios de la década de 1980, en dos movimientos analíticos. El primero sistematizará la información recopilada mediante la investigación de los documentos del Archivo Nacional, centrándose en los primeros años de implantación de la sección de cine; el segundo subrayará las relaciones con los archivos cinematográficos en este proceso y sus repercusiones en la constitución de la sección de cine.O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar uma análise sobre a trajetória de criação, implantação e desenvolvimento da seção de filmes do Arquivo Nacional do Brasil (AN). A partir dessa perspectiva, pretende se concentrar em um aspecto que marcou a experiência de trabalho da referida seção e que serviu de norteador para as iniciativas realizadas em relação à preservação e à gestão do seu acervo de filmes: a influência do modelo de tratamento de filmes empregado nas atividades realizadas pelas cinematecas, no Brasil — Cinemateca Brasileira, em São Paulo, e Cinemateca do MAM, no Rio de Janeiro — na implantação da gestão do acervo de filmes do Arquivo Nacional. O artigo irá se basear na apresentação da trajetória da seção de filmes do Arquivo Nacional, a partir do momento de modernização vivido pela instituição, no início dos anos de 1980, em dois movimentos analíticos.
