Resumo: Despite women's space in the professional market, labor relations are still guided by gender-discriminatory practices. In the hotel industry, even with a predominantly female workforce, this presence is conditioned by stereotypes and attributions reproduced since the beginning of the insertion of the female gender in the labor market, reflected in the hierarchy and structuring of the jobs in the area, where they are assigned functions similar to domestic ones and barriers imposed to the ascension to leadership positions. Thus, this quantitative-qualitative research used gender relations in the labor market as a theoretical lens, aiming to discover how women perceive themselves in the hotel labor market in the cities of Recife and Jaboatão dos Guararapes (located in the state of Pernambuco). The study had two phases: a first quantitative, applying a mixed questionnaire, reaching 54 women who work in the lodging facilities of the municipalities, allowing to know the socioeconomic, demographic and cultural profiles of these, and the positions occupied in the organizational structures of the hotel sector. ; and in the second qualitative, semi-structured interviews were applied with six of the respondents from the quantitative phase, expanding discussions categorized into: gender at work, personal life and motherhood, and leadership, analyzed as factors that influence the position of women in the hotel sector.
