Inicialmente foi tratado o contexto histórico em que o instituto está inserido tanto em âmbito mundial quanto seu surgimento no Brasil. No capítulo segundo, encontramse breves explanações acerca dos princípios basilares do Tribunal Popular e seus corolários, quais sejam, plenitude de defesa, sigilo das votações, soberania dos veredictos e competência para o julgamento dos crimes dolosos contra a vida. Após estes temas iniciais, explicou-se o rito do procedimento do Tribunal do Júri, desde a fase de investigação, passando pelo oferecimento da denúncia e a fase de formação da culpa, preparação para o julgamento e julgamento do mérito. Enfim, no último capítulo enfrenta-se o tema, estudando-se a possibilidade de ir a julgamento o réu intimado da decisão de pronúncia por edital, inovação trazida pela lei 11.689/2008, os entendimentos dos tribunais e as teses a favor e contra tal mudança e conclusões acerca de tal inovação legislativa.Work done on the grand jury, specifically about the possibility of conducting the trial without the presence of the defendant. In the first chapter was reported on the historical context in which the institute is housed both in the world as his appearance in Brazil. In the second chapter, there are brief explanations about the basic principles of the People's Court and its corollaries, namely, full defense, secrecy of votes, verdicts of the sovereignty and jurisdiction to judge crimes against life. After these initial themes, it was explained the procedure of the rite of the jury, since the research phase, through the offering of the complaint and the guilt phase of training, preparation for trial and trial on the merits.
