O valor residual é o preço estipulado para o exercício da opção de compra, ou valor contratualmente garantido pela arrendatária como mínimo que será recebido pela arrendadora na venda a terceiros do bem arrendado, na hipótese de não ser exercida a opção de compra. Nesse sentido, antes de o Superior Tribunal de Justiça pacificar o entendimento de que a antecipação do Valor Residual Garantido – VRG, não descaracterizaria o contrato, existiam várias controvérsias sobre o assunto em comento.
