Resumo: The objective was to analyze the social policies applied to the inclusion of people with disabilities in Brazil and Portugal, in the context of sustainability agenda. This is a reflective essay aimed at comparing the social policies in Brazil and Portugal for the inclusion of people with disability in society. The discussion goes through the challenges of inclusion associated with the previous world movements for the rights of people with disability, the inclusive policies in Brazil and Portugal, and the inclusion supported by the current legislation. The results point out that the Portuguese scenario differs from the Brazilian because there is a certain disregard with the person with disability, given that, the inclusive policy systems in the country are sectorial and Brazil it has a solid and comprehensive inclusion legislation regarding ensuring the right of the person with disability.

É um ensaio reflexivo voltado para comparar as políticas sociais no Brasil e Portugal para inclusão de pessoas com deficiência na sociedade. A discussão perpassa pelos desafios de inclusão associados com os movimentos mundiais precedentes aos direitos das pessoas com deficiência(s), as políticas inclusivas do Brasil e Portugal, e a inclusão apoiada a legislação vigente.
