Resumo: Starting from the understanding that the comprehension of the socio-historical processes that took place with the native peoples of this country, the knowledge of indigenous rights, their ways of being and living are conditions for professional action within the scope of social protection policies, as well as for the uncompromising defense of human rights. This text socializes parts of the theoretical reviews and reflections of a collective of indigenous and non-indigenous researchers, discussing the importance of indigenous policies in the training agenda of social policy workers, in an attempt to address conceptions and point out some legislation, citing health and social assistance as examples to contribute to the debate.
