Resumo: This article presents a summary of a dissertation in Teaching Science and Mathematics which developed under the project Centre of Education and aimed to start investigating the procedures disclosed by students in 5th year of elementary school in relation to problem solving multiplicative structures. The research was conducted by adopting a qualitative method with documental analysis technique, in which to field research were used four instruments containing problems of groups belonging to the multiplicative structures according to the theoretical framework of conceptual fields. The research subjects were students of a public school in the city of São Paulo project participants. The results have highlighted a scenario delicate compared to the interpretations given by the students in situations proposed, in which, in some groups of problems, they demonstrated weaknesses regarding the appropriation of multiplicative reasoning or algorithms that underlie operations. The considerations presented at the end of the studies provide reflection on interventions that can contribute to the process of teaching and learning in the field multiplicative.

Este artigo apresenta a síntese de uma dissertação de mestrado em Ensino de Ciências e Matemática que se desenvolveu no âmbito do projeto Observatório da Educação e teve como objetivo inicial investigar os procedimentos revelados por alunos de 5º ano do Ensino Fundamental em relação à resolução de problemas de estruturas multiplicativas. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida adotando um método qualitativo com técnica de análise documental, em que para pesquisa de campo foram utilizados quatro instrumentos contendo problemas dos grupos pertencentes às estruturas multiplicativas segundo o quadro teórico dos campos conceituais. Os sujeitos de pesquisa são alunos de uma escola pública da cidade de São Paulo participantes do projeto. Os resultados colocaram em evidência um cenário delicado em relação às interpretações dadas pelos educandos diante de situações propostas, em que, em alguns grupos de problemas, eles demonstraram fragilidades quanto à apropriação do raciocínio multiplicativo ou dos algoritmos que permeiam as operações. As considerações apresentadas ao final dos estudos propiciam a reflexão sobre intervenções que podem contribuir com o processo de ensino e aprendizagem no campo multiplicativo.
