Resumo: | This text aims to present and discuss the strategies employed by 22 students of the 6th year of elementary school to a private school in the western city of Rio de Janeiro, to participate in a game that favors the construction of meanings for numerical expressions involving two multiplications. This is an analytical study, developed from the theoretical ideas of Vergnaud (1990). The analysis allowed us to recognize that the situations experienced in the game, as well as the representations favored, created conditions for students to mobilize schemes useful for decomposing a number into prime factors and understand that while the multiplication is a commutative operation, changes in the order of factors may result in the representation of different situations. |

Trata-se de um estudo analítico, desenvolvido a partir das ideias da Teoria dos Campos Conceituais.
