The dropping out is present in various levels of education, it  is  a  complex issue and needs to be studied (BRASIL, 1996). Some studies often to quantify the dropping out phenomenon or to study the causes, and to propose and test solutions.This paper aims to quantify the graduation, retention and the dropping out of degree course in mathematics from the Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia, in Vitória da Conquista city, in the period between 1999 and 2005. We use the flow method, or follow-up of students, replicating the methodology used in a study by MEC called: "Diplomação, retenção e evasão nos cursos de graduação em instituições de Ensino Superior públicas," which was published in October 1996. The quantitative results collected show that the course studied has an average rate of 35,89% of dropping out, 59,23% of graduation and retention rates near 4,88% of their students. The study of these indices is part of a series of studies, aiming to improve quality of cited course.
