Collaborative discussions on a virtual environment: an experiment with 9th grade students

Resumo: This article presents research that was developed with twenty students of the 9th year of the Elementary phase of a private school, in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It aimed at understanding, among other aspects, the justifications and conjectures made by the students when solving tasks that involve a real problem on a virtual environment. Students were divided into groups of four students, through a Virtual Environment, where they held discussions in a collaborative way, aiming at the resolution of proposed activities. The written productions of the students were analyzed in the light of the Qualitative approach, based on Content Analysis for data interpretation. From the results, inferences and reflections were made on how students built knowledge in Mathematics in the environment. It was possible to identify that this construction was based on the sharing of reflections, on the bonds of collaboration and on the use of concepts in mathematics that converged to some procedural steps highlighted in the Mathematical Modeling.

Tuvo como objetivo comprender, entre otros aspectos, las justificaciones y conjeturas realizadas por los estudiantes al resolver tareas, involucrando un problema real en un entorno virtual. Los grupos fueron divididos con 4 estudiantes, a través de un Ambiente Virtual, donde realizaron discusiones de forma colaborativa, visando la resolución de las actividades propuestas. Las producciones escritas de los estudiantes fueron analizadas a la luz del enfoque Cualitativo, basado en el Análisis de Contenido para la interpretación de los datos. A partir de los resultados se realizaron inferencias y reflexiones sobre cómo los estudiantes construyeron conocimientos en Matemática en el entorno. Fue posible identificar que esa construcción se basó en el intercambio de reflexiones, en lazos colaborativos y en el uso de conceptos en matemáticas que confluyeron en algunos pasos procedimentales destacados en la Modelación Matemática.Este artigo apresenta uma pesquisa que foi desenvolvida com vinte alunos do 9º ano, do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola privada, da cidade de Campos dos Goytacazes, no estado do Rio de Janeiro. Teve como objetivo compreender, entre outros aspectos, as justificativas e as conjecturas elaboradas pelos educandos ao resolverem tarefas, envolvendo um problema real em um ambiente virtual. Os grupos foram divididos com 4 alunos, por intermédio de um Ambiente Virtual, onde realizaram discussões de modo colaborativo, objetivando a resolução de atividades propostas. As produções escritas dos educandos foram analisadas à luz da abordagem Qualitativa, tendo como base a Análise de Conteúdo para interpretação dos dados. A partir dos resultados, realizaram-se inferências e reflexões sobre como os educandos construíram conhecimentos em Matemática no ambiente.
