Resumo: This study aimed to build a didactic-pedagogical support card game in the teaching of Organic Chemistry, to assist the development of content involving the functional groups with their respective nomenclatures according to IUPAC. This is a qualitative study, using the action research methodology, since this methodology associates action with research activity, as well as proposing that individuals will be active subjects throughout the process of development of research activities. The subjects of this study were 28 students from the 3rd year of high school from a state school in Campina Grande - PB. The data collection was developed in four distinct moments: a) the first moment was the presentation of the game called Hidrocart and its composition, b) second moment was to demonstrate the rules that are part of the game, c) the third moment, is related the practical intervention of didactic-pedagogical material with students, in which they can 'learn while playing', developing functions and nomenclature of organic compounds; d) the fourth step was the application of the semi-structured questionnaire, with the objective of being able to evaluate the teaching process, as well as the didactic material constructed and its usefulness in collaboration with the scientific content. The results obtained point to the need to insert didactic-pedagogical support materials that allow students and teachers to manipulate and participate in classes in a more equal way, since students reported that this type of material contributes in a dynamic and participatory way in the process teaching and learning.
