Resumo: The studies on Science, Technology and Society (STS), although a recent field of work, is well consolidated, being present today in researches, articles, books, becoming thematic lines in congresses and in Graduate Programs. This work aimed to characterize the academic scientific production on STS education focusing on the initial teacher training in Brazil. The research, of the state of the art type, based on the Bank of Thesis and Dissertations of CAPES, using the keyword "STS". Based on the survey a mapping and analysis of researches developed with teachers in initial formation carried out. The results indicate the potential of incorporating the STS discussions in teacher training, contributing to a better perception of Science and Technology, reflection and criticism of teachers, improvement of teaching practice, being socially committed to the integral formation of Basic Education students.

A pesquisa, do tipo estado da arte, se deu com base no Banco de Teses e Dissertações da CAPES, a partir da palavra chave “CTS”, resultando 738 trabalhos, desses analisou-se os que possuíam professores como participantes da pesquisa, somando 110 pesquisas, e em seguida, os que discutiam formação inicial, com um total de 42 teses e dissertações. As pesquisas analisadas eram voltadas para a prática em sala de aula, seguida de trabalhos sobre concepções de ciência e tecnologia.
