A literature review on the use of analogies in the teaching of Science and Mathematics

Resumo: In the teaching of science and mathematics, the use of analogies is common. They are frequently used in the classroom to create links between knowledge, prior experiences and new contexts and problems, becoming important in the process of interpretation and, consequently, in improving the learning experience in pedagogical practice. Although relevant to the teaching of science and mathematics, there is a need to develop a global view of how it has been used. Therefore, the objective of this work is to carry out a systematic review to evaluate science and mathematics teaching publications using analogies, allowing the evaluation of the configuration and context of the current designs in use. The search was carried out in the CAPES database and in Google Scholar, using as descriptors: “analogy and teaching”, “analogy and science and mathematics” and “analogy and education”, which allowed access to publications in an appropriate manner. The scope of the analyzed works was defined starting from January 2014 to December 2019. For data analysis, twelve representative articles were selected, where we describe the analogies found and their application forms. The analysis of the articles pointed to the importance of analogy as a good teaching methodology for Science and Mathematics.

Suelen utilizarse en el aula para crear vínculos entre conocimientos, experiencias vividas y nuevos contextos y problemas, siendo importante en el proceso de interpretación y, en consecuencia, en la mejora de la experiencia de aprendizaje en la práctica pedagógica. Aunque sea relevante para la enseñanza de las ciencias y las matemáticas, es necesario desarrollar una visión global de cómo se ha utilizado. Por tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo es realizar una revisión sistemática para evaluar las publicaciones de la enseñanza de las ciencias y las matemáticas mediante analogías, que permita evaluar la configuración y el contexto de los diseños actuales de su uso. La búsqueda se realizó en la base de datos CAPES y en Google Scholar, utilizando como descriptores: “analogía y enseñanza”, “analogía y ciencia y matemáticas” y “analogía y educación”, lo que permitió el acceso a las publicaciones de manera adecuada. El alcance de los trabajos analizados se definió a partir de enero de 2014 a diciembre de 2019. Para el análisis de datos se seleccionaron doce artículos representativos, donde describimos las analogías encontradas y sus formularios de aplicación. El análisis de los artículos señaló la importancia de la analogía como una buena metodología de enseñanza para las Ciencias y las Matemáticas.No ensino de ciências e matemática é comum o uso de analogias. Elas são normalmente utilizadas na sala de aula na criação de vínculos entre o conhecimento, experiências vividas e novos contextos e problemas, tornando-se importante no processo de interpretação e, por consequência, na melhoria da experiência de aprendizagem na prática pedagógica. Embora relevante para o ensino de ciências e matemática, verifica-se a necessidade da elaboração de uma visão global de como ela tem sido usada. Diante disso, o objetivo deste trabalho é a realização de uma revisão sistemática para avaliar as publicações de ensino de ciências e matemática com o uso de analogias, que permita avaliar a configuração e o contexto dos desenhos atuais do seu uso. A busca foi realizada no banco de dados da CAPES e no Google Scholar, usando como descritores: “analogia e ensino”, “analogia e ciência e matemática” e “analogia e educação”, o que permitiu o acesso às publicações de maneira adequada. O escopo dos trabalhos analisados foi delimitado iniciando de janeiro de 2014 a dezembro de 2019. Para análise dos dados, foram selecionados doze artigos representativos, onde descrevemos as analogias encontradas e suas formas de aplicações.
