The return of the audio age: analyzing science communication podcasts

Resumo: Since its inception on a global scale, podcasts have grown and increased the exchange of information of all kinds between people and are therefore increasingly seen as educational resources inserted into the school environment. It is important to understand the podcast phenomenon, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. We seek to understand podcasts related to science education, with the primary goal of mapping, categorizing, and researching national podcast productions for science communication available on the Spotify platform. As a corollary, our goal is to support science teachers in choosing this material as a teaching resource. Therefore, a combined quantitative and qualitative exploratory approach was employed. As a result, many works involving the exact sciences and physical sciences have emerged, proposing various methods of introducing themes, reinforcing them, and dealing with fake news.

Es importante comprender el fenómeno de los podcasts, especialmente durante la pandemia de Covid-19. Buscamos comprender los podcasts relacionados con la educación científica, con el objetivo principal de mapear, categorizar e investigar las producciones nacionales de podcasts para la comunicación científica disponibles en la plataforma Spotify. Como corolario, nuestro objetivo es apoyar a los profesores de ciencias en la elección de este material como recurso didáctico. Por lo tanto, se empleó un enfoque exploratorio cuantitativo y cualitativo combinado. Como resultado, han surgido muchos trabajos que involucran las ciencias exactas y las ciencias físicas, proponiendo varios métodos para introducir temas, reforzarlos y tratar las noticias falsas.Os podcasts, desde o seu surgimento, vêm evoluindo em escala mundial e incrementando a comunicação de informações diversas entre as pessoas e, por isso, sendo considerados cada vez mais como recurso educacional inseridos no âmbito escolar. Entendendo o fenômeno do podcast como importante, sobretudo no período da pandemia de Covid-19, buscamos conhecer os que faziam interface com o ensino de ciências, tendo por objetivo principal mapear, categorizar e investigar as produções nacionais de podcasts de divulgação científica disponíveis na plataforma Spotify. Como corolário, nosso propósito foi auxiliar os professores de ciências nas escolhas deste material como recurso educativo. Para tanto, foi utilizada a combinação dos métodos quantitativo e qualitativo de caráter exploratório.
