Awareness of Technical High School students through STS Education: approach of transit and urban mobility theme aiming at training for citizenship

Resumo: This research reports the results of pedagogical interventions aligned with Science, Technology and Society Education (STS), using the theme Traffic and Urban Mobility in the discipline of Physics, involving 40 students of the first year of Technical High School. In the activities carried out the school contents were approached emphasizing situations of traffic and urban locomotion, as well as its consequences regarding the quality of life. The data were obtained through the application of questionnaires and evidenced some changes in the perception of students about important aspects involving STS relationships. The results indicate that there was raising awareness about the citizen posture and in the understanding of relations between physics and human life. The contextualized thematic approach was able to provide the student with a more consistent education regarding the applicability and meaning of physical concepts in a perspective of formation for citizenship.

En las actividades realizadas se abordaron los contenidos escolares, destacando las situaciones de tránsito y locomoción urbana, así como sus consecuencias para la calidad de vida. Los datos se obtuvieron mediante la aplicación de cuestionarios y evidenciaron algunos cambios en la percepción de los estudiantes sobre aspectos importantes que involucran las relaciones CTS. Los resultados muestran que hubo una mayor conciencia sobre la postura de ciudadanía y comprensión de la relación entre la Física y la vida humana. El abordaje temático contextualizado logró brindar al alumno una formación más consistente sobre la aplicabilidad y trascendencia de los conceptos físicos en una perspectiva de formación para la ciudadanía.Nesta pesquisa são relatados os resultados de intervenções pedagógicas alinhadas à Educação Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (CTS), utilizando como tema Trânsito e Mobilidade Urbana na disciplina de Física, envolvendo 40 alunos da primeira série do Ensino Médio Técnico. Nas atividades realizadas os conteúdos escolares foram abordados enfatizando-se situações de trânsito e locomoção urbana, bem como suas consequências para a qualidade de vida. Os dados foram obtidos por meio da aplicação de questionários e evidenciaram algumas mudanças na percepção dos alunos acerca de aspectos importantes envolvendo relações CTS. Os resultados apontam que houve maior conscientização quanto à postura cidadã e na compreensão de relações entre a Física e a vida humana.
