Resumo: The COVID-19 pandemic has hit several countries, leading to the closure of schools and the expansion of the use of technologies in education. The research aimed to assess productivity in remote classes and the continuity of student learning through the use of information and communication technologies. The study was developed with students from the Biological Sciences course at the Federal Institute of Maranhão, Campus São Raimundo das Mangabeiras, who answered an electronic form with open and closed questions about remote teaching and educational technologies. The research approach used was quali-quantitative. The answers were submitted to textual discursive analysis and descriptive statistics. The results indicated that most students have mastery of the use of technologies and that the quality of internet connections interfered with academic performance, personal-psychological factors and related to the pandemic also affected performance, social inequalities, especially income, directly interfered in the teaching and learning process. Those with fewer financial conditions were awarded digital inclusion assistance. Learning was considered satisfactory considering the obstacles caused by the pandemic. Therefore, the multiplicity of methodologies is necessary to make the teaching and learning process inclusive and integrative.
