Resumo: The indigenous thematic began to be considered object of study, in the Brazilian curricular parameters, recently. Since 2008, it has been discussed the possibility of including the thematic in the classroom and how to contemplate other areas of knowledge that are not established by legislation (Artistic Education, Literature and Brazilian History). In this perspective, this thematic workshop proposes to include in the teaching of science knowledge that refers to indigenous cultures, making possible that through the conceptual approach of paints, students develop scientific and cultural knowledge. The thematic workshop was developed with students from the ninth grade of elementary school, with duration of 4 hours class, in order to approach the scientific concepts contextualized with the "indigenous" theme. In this way, the students can through experimental activity, make paints with natural pigments from indigenous knowledge, apply them to paintings, and recognize the scientific concepts involved in the activity.
