Resumo: | This research analyzes the theoretical, technical and practical procedures of the production of the documentary "O mar de Omar". The short film revisits the dawn of February 27th, 2010, when Chile was rocked by one of the most devastating earthquakes in history, causing a tsunami with waves of up to ten meters, leaving hundreds dead and missing. The story is depicts the memories of Omar, a Chilean man, who for fourteen years built his house on the beach, with mate-rials brought by the sea and lost everything in the catastrophe. The article aims to reflect the implications of modernity / coloniality on globalization and some consequences on the nature and life of people living apart from capitalist systems of power. The theoretical path starts from cultural and postcolonial studies critical to modernity / coloniality and globalization, trying to understand the process of separation of man with nature and reflections that are present today in the cultures of the southern hemisphere. |

El cortometraje retoma la madrugada del 27 de febrero de 2010, cuando el Chile fue sacudido por uno de los terremotos más devastadores de su historia, que causó un tsunami con olas de hasta diez metros, dejando cientos de muertos y desaparecidos. La historia se presenta a través de los recuerdos de Omar, un marero chileno que durante catorce años construyó su casa en la playa, con materiales traídos por el mar y perdió todo con la catástrofe. El artículo pretende reflejar las implicaciones de la modernidad / colonialidad en la globalización y algunas consecuencias sobre la naturaleza y la vida de las personas que viven separadas de los sistemas capitalistas de poder. El camino teórico comienza a partir de estudios culturales y poscoloniales críticos a la modernidad / colonialidad y la globalización, tratando de comprender el proceso de separación del hombre con la Naturaleza y las reflexiones que están presentes hoy en las culturas del sur global.O presente trabalho analisa os pro-cedimentos teóricos, técnicos e práticos da produção do documentário “O mar de Omar”. O curta-metragem revisita a madrugada de 27 de fevereiro de 2010, quando o Chile foi sacudido por um dos terremotos mais devastadores de sua his-tória, que causou um tsunami com ondas de até dez metros, deixando centenas de mortos e desaparecidos. A história é apresentada através das memórias de Omar, um “mareiro” chileno que durante quatorze anos construiu sua casa na bei-ra da praia, com materiais trazidos pelo mar e perdeu tudo com a catástrofe. O artigo visa refletir implicações da moder-nidade/colonialidade na globalização e algumas consequências sobre a Nature-za e a vida de pessoas que vivem à parte de sistemas capitalistas de poder.
