Resumo: | The past few years in Brazil and in the world are notable for a political polarization that starts to influence other social spheres, including the religious one. Ultra-conservative speeches have gained room on social networks and has shaped the behavior of Internet users on Facebook. This article presents the results of a survey whose aim was to investigate the types of controversy in comments involving the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB), on the Facebook page by an ultra-conservative activist, in February 2018. The work is based on a dialogical approach, which falls within the scope of discourse studies, more specifically in the writings by Volochinov (2013 [1930]; 2017 [1929]) and Bakhtin (1997 [1963]; 2015 [1934-1935]; 2016 [1979]), as well as by contemporary scholars who embrace this approach: Cunha (2007, 2012a, 2012b, 2013, 2017), Faraco (2009), Renfrew (2017). And in Maingueneau (2005) and Amossy (2017) who studied the controversy from a discursive perspective. Starting from the verbal context and linguistic materiality, in this article we analyze a sequence of comments from the corpus. The results show the dynamics of disqualification of the other, the polarization and the dichotomization processes of positions, characteristics of the controversy (Amossy, 2014), and reveal the political and religious tensions at the time of their production. |
