The Playful Culture of “Escola das Águas” students in the Pantanal

Resumo: The objective of this text is to analyze the playful culture of children who live and study in a “Escola das Águas”. For this purpose, a Study of Case was carried out with 33 children aged 04-16 and for data collection, field diaries, interviews, drawings and photographs were used. Furthermore, we used Content Analysis as a means to organize, categorize and analyze the data obtained. The results indicate that the playful behaviours of Pantanal’s children have in the toy (industrialized and unstructured), its central axis. The playful object is the images that emerge from the toys and the play is the act of (re)creating these images. We analyze that learning to play takes place through semiotic mediation between children-children and adult-children. Finally, we found that children’s playful culture in the Pantanal is not isolated from fauna, flora, rivers, fires etc., because it’s balanced in a tenuous bond between preserving and destroying.

Para tal, realizou-se uma pesquisa do tipo Estudo de Caso com 33 crianças de 04-16 anos e, para a coleta de dados, usou-se diário de campo, entrevistas, desenhos e fotografias. Utilizamos a Análise de Conteúdo como meio de organizar, categorizar e analisar os dados obtidos. Os resultados indicam que os comportamentos lúdicos das crianças pantaneiras têm no brinquedo (industrializado e não-estruturado), seu eixo central. O objeto lúdico é composto por imagens que emergem dos brinquedos e o jogar/brincar é o ato de (re)criar essas imagens. Analisamos que a aprendizagem do jogar/brincar decorre mediante mediação semiótica entre crianças-crianças e adultos-crianças.
