Paulo Freire's legacy: reflections on his life and his main works on the horizon of teaching practice

Resumo: | The pertinence of Freire's writings in universities, in research, in spaces of formal and informal conversations among educators for fostering ways and senses of thinking about education. Having this assumption as north, the objective of this research was to know Paulo Freire's thinking from his main works, highlighting its relevance to teaching practice. To this do so, the methodology used was bibliographic research, based on some writings of the educator himself (FREIRE, 2016; 2018; 2019) because its contents emphasize the promotion of knowledge from an emancipatory, critical and reflective educational practice. It is concluded that the legacy left by Freire can be considered timeless, since his ideas are relevant in the current context, bringing contributions that permanently dialogue with quality in the educational field, especially in teaching practice. |

Tendo esse pressuposto como norte, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi conhecer o pensamento de Paulo Freire a partir de suas principais obras, destacando sua relevância para a prática docente. Para tanto, a metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa bibliográfica, tendo como suporte alguns escritos do próprio educador (FREIRE, 2016; 2018; 2019) pelo fato de seus conteúdos enfatizarem a promoção do conhecimento a partir de uma prática educativa emancipatória, crítica e reflexiva.
