Resumo: Describing the paths that led to the creation of the first Decentralized Teaching Unit (UNED) in the interior of the state of Ceará in 1986 for training in industrial technical education is the central objective of this text. Our theoretical-methodological framework relies on studies by Luiz Antônio Cunha (2005), on professional education in the period of advancing industrialization in Brazil; Leandro Neto (2013) in his doctoral research on UNED-Cedro in Ceará and Paolo Nosella and Ester Buffa (2013) on how to carry out research in school institutions. Therefore, a bibliographic research. Our preliminary results of Scientific Initiation, indicate that the MEC and Federal Technical School of Ceará – ETFCE agreements in Fortaleza, promoted the installation of two UNED in the Center-South and South regions of the state of Ceará. We conclude that the first federal industrial school in Ceará was UNED in Cedro-CE followed by Juazeiro do Norte.

Nosso arcabouço teórico-metodológico conta com os estudos de Luiz Antônio Cunha (2005), sobre o ensino profissional no período de avanço da industrialização do Brasil; Leandro Neto (2013) em sua pesquisa doutoral sobre a UNED-Cedro no Ceará e Paolo Nosella e Ester Buffa (2013) sobre como realizar pesquisas de instituições escolares. Portanto, uma pesquisa bibliográfica. Nossos resultados preliminares de Iniciação Científica, indicam que os acordos MEC e Escola Técnica Federal do Ceará – ETFCE em Fortaleza, fomentaram a instalação de duas UNED nas regiões Centro-Sul e Sul do estado do Ceará.
