Relational frame theory as a behavioral contribution to education

Resumo: Behavior analysis is a psychological theory that offers great contributions for education. In Brazil there is a stereotypical view of this theory based on a erroneous conceptions according to which this approach is defined as stimulus-response paradigm. This paper deals with the recent developments in behavior analysis, specifically Relational Frame Theory and the way it studies stimulus functions and transformation. Language and cognitions are better understood and researched through this model and can be explained without the need of direct training. This advancement of contextual behavioral sciences has much to offer to an evidence-based education. Theoretical implications as well as practical and didactical ones are shown in order to point to the need of a more open reception of behavior analysis in the Brazilian educational field.

No Brasil, entretanto, perdura o estereótipo arcaico de que esta é uma abordagem estímulo-resposta. O presente artigo aborda os desdobramentos mais recentes da Teoria das Molduras relacionais, referentes à forma como estímulos podem adquirir função.  Assim, linguagem e cognição passam a ser temáticas comportamentais com implicações educacionais mais diretas no sentido de apontarem para comportamentos que podem ser aprendidos sem a necessidade de ensino direto. Partindo do método conceitual analítico mostramos como as ciências comportamentais contextuais tem muito a contribuir para uma educação baseada em evidências.
