Resumo: This article aims to expose the process by which Higher Education, until then restricted to capitals and large urban centers, in the state of Paraíba, entered the interior to the region of Alto Sertão, like the FAFIC - Faculdade de Ciências e Letras de Cajazeiras, reflecting the events that took place in the national context, with the objective of contributing to the construction of the educational memory of the Sertão of Paraíba in the search for higher education in a region forgotten by national policies.
