The symbolic mourning of university students faced with educational losses in the pandemic scenario

Resumo: | This article aimed to identify how the symbolic mourning of educational losses during and afterthe Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the academic journey of university students and how theyhave interpreted and made sense of this mourning. Thus, a field study was carried out with anintentional sample of four university students from two different courses in different semesters,all from public universities. The data, collected using an electronic form, was analyzed usinghermeneutics. The theoretical foundations were composed of papers and documents onEmergency Remote Education and symbolic mourning. Through the interpretation of theparticipants' responses, it was concluded that, in addition to concrete losses, symbolic lossesrelating to space, time and the field of experiences had an impact on the way these studentsperceive their educational journey. It is therefore essential to consider the implications of a timeso full of suffering and immense losses for post-pandemic education. |

Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisade campo com uma amostra intencional de quatro estudantes universitários de dois cursosdiferentes em semestres distintos, todos de universidades públicas. Os dados, coletados atravésde formulário eletrônico, foram analisados através da hermenêutica. A fundamentação teórica foicomposta por artigos e documentos sobre o Ensino Remoto Emergencial e luto simbólico. Atravésda interpretação das respostas dos participantes, concluiu-se que, para além das perdas concretas,as perdas simbólicas relativas ao espaço, ao tempo e ao campo das experiências tiveram impactona forma que esses estudantes percebem sua jornada educacional.
