Resumo: Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has a high prevalence in Brazil and worldwide. The municipality of Pacoti shows awareness of this fact and promotes discussions on this topic. This report aims to describe the experience of the UniTEA/UECE Extension Project members in an event about autism for professionals from education, health, parents, and family in the city of Pacoti/CE. This is a descriptive and qualitative report of the perceptions of the extensionists and the coordinating professor. Three presentations were made at the meeting with different approaches focusing on ASD. The discussions led to lively debates and important clarifications, such as the cause of ASD, the existence of maternal risk factors, and eating habits in children with autism. The lectures were well received, and the moment added positive experiences to the human, social, and academic curriculum of UniTEA members, in addition to generating collective debates on the topic.

O município de Pacoti se mostra como reconhecedor deste fato, promovendo discussões sobre a temática. Este relato tem como objetivo descrever sobre as experiências dos participantes do projeto de extensão UniTEA/UECE em um evento sobre o autismo para profissionais da educação, saúde, pais e familiares da cidade de Pacoti/CE. Trata-se de um relato de natureza descritiva e qualitativa das percepções das extensionistas e professor coordenador. No encontro, foram ministradas três palestras com abordagens distintas com foco no TEA. As discussões geradas promoveram debates e esclarecimentos importantes como, qual a causa do TEA, existência de fatores de risco maternos e hábitos alimentares na criança com autismo.
