Resumo: With the advent of new technologies, it became possible to preserve the memory and/or crucial information of a people's historical past in a scientific way. Among other possible methods of preservation and access to historical documents, we highlight the method developed by the Corpus Linguistics Research Laboratory (LAPELINC). Through scientifically controlled photography, the Lapelinc method aims at the formation of linguistic-electronic corpora, considering, in this case, Photography as a technical language. According to Santos and Namiuti (2019, p. 1383), the Lapelinc Method is characterized as a method of construction of annotated and scientifically controlled digital corpora, in which one starts from a Physical Document (DF) is started and a Digital Image Document is built (DDI), the latter will serve as an original digital source for the processes of constitution of annotated electronic corpora, processes that will result in the Digital Text Document (DDT). According to the authors, this method has three main steps in the workflow: transposition, transcription and corpora compilation. Here, by clipping, we show how the second stage of the Lapelinc Method takes place, that is, transcription, highlighting the different contributions that the paleographer can have when developing paleographic transcription from a digital image support, since there are paleographic difficulties as the type of writing, deformed letters and others, which, according to Contreras (1994), come from two opposite influences: from the hand that writes and from the eye that reads. Within the scope of this section, we seek to answer the following questions: What “new” possibilities does the Lapelinc Method give to paleography through DDI, as this is a digital photographic document? How does the Lapelinc Method help in the difficulties encountered by paleography to read a handwritten document, more specifically, the nineteenth century? To answer them, we mobilized the assumptions of Namiuti and Santos (2017), Santos and Brito (2014), Namiuti-Temponi Santos, Costa and  Farias (2013), Souza and Santos (2013), main authors who proposed and developed such a method.
