Resumo: It is a general sense of education the great need of incentive to reading, interpretation and writing in the classroom. From this perspective, the narrative and imagination are the key-point for the student’s development not only in History classes, but in the general educational practices and the sciences development. The present works aims, in the forefront, develop a strategy in the classroom that promotes the use of historical narratives, taking the RPG (Role Playing Game) as part of this strategy for teaching of historical concepts. The research aims to delimit the characteristics and the historic of the RPG as cultural product of its time and toys, in view of reflection on the game exploited in history lessons at basic school. To all, it highlight both the historical and fictional narrative, inherent to the man, and to encourage the narrativity and writing in History class based on the concepts of historical consciousness and the assignment of meaning to the past through narrative, as discussed by Rüsen and other authors such as Vygotsky, Ausubel and Polanyi. It is expected to end, describe the practical application and demonstrate the main idea and procedures for greater effectiveness of the RPG in the classroom as a teaching strategy in history, as a view a perspective of imagination use in teaching.
