Dossier Presentation – When The “Other” Is the Anthropologist: Reflections on Contemporary Ethnographic Productions

Resumo: | Despite the transformations through which anthropology has already gone through, the idea that anthropology takes place in the encounter with an “Other”, often distant spatially and “culturally” from the one who produces the ethnographic text, still prevails in the discipline. It unfolds from this that the anthropologist’s work is triggered by a physical displacement that takes him from his “home” to the “field”. This model has undergone a deeper destabilization with a greater presence, in recent years, of Black and Indigenous anthropologists in graduate programs in anthropology around the country. This proposal aims to bring together texts that contribute with reflections on contemporary ethnographic production, highlighting the tensions generated by the idea that anthropology is necessarily the product of the encounter with difference. |

Se despliega a partir de ahí que el trabajo del antropólogo se desencadena por un desplazamiento físico que lo lleva de su “casa” al “campo”. Este modelo ha sufrido una desestabilización aún más profunda con la mayor presencia, en los últimos años, de antropólogos negros e indígenas en los posgrados en antropología del país. En este texto, presentamos un panorama de estos temas, y cómo dialogan con la propuesta del dossier y los textos aquí publicados.Apesar das diversas transformações pelas quais já passou a antropologia, ainda predomina na disciplina a ideia de que o fazer antropológico se dá no encontro com um “Outro”, muitas vezes distante espacialmente e “culturalmente” daquele que produz o texto etnográfico. Desdobra daí que o trabalho do antropólogo é disparado por um deslocamento físico que o leva da sua “casa” para o “campo”. Este modelo tem sofrido uma desestabilização ainda mais profunda com a maior presença, nos últimos anos, de antropólogos negros e indígenas nos cursos de pós-graduação em antropologia do país.
