Legitimacy and legitimation in Colombia from the 90s

Resumo: The long political conflict undergone by Colombia could be entering a phase of resolution (which could last several years) and the divers combating forces proclaim for themselves legitimacy as justifying means for their actions. At the moment of dissolving the conflict, it seems pertinent to theoretically clarify the pretensions for legitimacy and the legitimacy actions that the different actors in the conflict claim, aiming at the possibility for the citizens to decide about their loyalties in a rational and reasonable way. To develop this assay. firstly the work hypotheses are considered, then the concepts of authenticity legitimacy are after that, a brief political-historical characterization of legitimacy in Latin America is carried out, and, finally, the Colombian case from the 1990 decade on is approached, under this theoretical perspective of legitimacy.

A la hora de dirimir el conflicto, es pertinente esclarecer teóricamente las pretensiones de legitimidad y las acciones de legitimación que los diferentes actores del conflicto invocan, con el objeto de que los ciudadanos puedan decidir, racional y razonablemente, sobre sus lealtades. Para desarrollar este ensayo se plantearán, en primer lugar, las hipótesis de trabajo, luego se estudiarán los conceptos de legitimidad y legitimación; enseguida, se hará una breve caracterización histórico-política de la legitimidad en Latinoamérica, y finalmente, se abordará el caso colombiano, a partir de la década de los 90, desde la perspectiva teórica de legitimidad.O longo conflito político vivido pela Colômbia poderia estar entrando em uma fase de resolução (que pode durar vários anos) e as diversas forças que combatem proclamam para si legitimidades como formas justificativas de suas ações. No momento de dirimir o conflito, é pertinente esclarecer teoricamente as pretensões de legitimidade e as ações de legitimação que os diferentes atores do conflito invocam, com o objetivo de que os cidadãos possam decidir, racional e razoavelmente, sobre suas lealdades.
