A SEMIOLINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF THE POEM “ADORMECIDA”, BY CASTRO ALVES

Resumo: Based on Greimas’s semiotic theory, the aim of this work is to analyze the poem “Adormecida” by Castro Alves, taking into account the three levels of the generative trajectory of meaning: fundamental, narrative and discursive. We also discuss the text segmentation strategy used in the Lexical Fields, a methodology developed by Georges Maurand. According to the findings, we highlight that “Adormecida” presents an important semantic opposition between seduction versus purity which can be observed throughout the poem.

According to the findings, we highlight that “Adormecida” presents an important semantic opposition between seduction versus purity which can be observed throughout the poem.Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar uma leitura possível, dentro da perspectiva da teoria semiótica greimasiana, do poema “Adormecida”, de Castro Alves. Apresenta-se, inicialmente, uma breve abordagem dessa teoria, enfatizando-se o percurso gerativo de sentido de Greimas, que dá o suporte teórico para a análise do poema. Em seguida, discute-se a Metodologia de Campos Lexicais de Georges Maurand que será adotada para o estudo do texto. Por fim, a partir da divisão do poema em campos lexicais, são analisados os três níveis do percurso gerativo: fundamental, narrativo e discursivo.
