The lexicon of São Paulo state: the case of the vulture and the crow from a geolinguistic perspective

Resumo: | The aim of this work is to describe and analyze the lexical variants to the following question: "What is the black bird that eats dead animals, rotten animals?" commonly known as vulture. We use as corpus for this analyze the surveys collected by the Linguistic Atlas of Brazil Project – AliB – in 38 cities of São Paulo state, totaling 152 respondents. We propose to describe the motivation for the designations and also we present a scheme of experimental catographic process using the precepts of Sociolinguistics combined with the Geolinguistics’ method. |
