Fortaleza and the occupation of space coastal in the Grande Pirambu

This article aims to discuss the process of differentiated appropriation of the Fortaleza’s waterfront, with an emphasis on sociospatial transformations resulting from implementing of the project Vila do Mar in the Grande Pirambu, western portion of the coast, presenting the sociospatial changes over the last two decades, identifying the differences between two urbanization and requalification projects carried out in the area and how these projects interfered in the form of appropriation of the public spaces of the west coast. The interventions carried out in the Grande Pirambu, by the public power, have spawned new ways of space’s appropriation, changing the everyday of population and providing the construction of a feeling of belonging and identity with this place.
