The National Program of Book and Teaching Material and the Development of Scientific Thinking: Geography in highlight

Resumo: | The National Program for Book and Teaching Material (PNLD) has several approval criteria. Publishers produce books that meet these criteria and submit them for selection by the Ministry of Education (MEC). Approved works are presented in the Textbook Guide. With this guide in hand, teachers and coordinators of the country's state network choose the books they will adopt and await their distribution by the National Fund for the Development of Education (FNDE). This research investigated whether the evaluation criteria of PNLD 2018 allowed the construction of culture and scientific spirit in high school geography textbooks. To this end, the criteria published in the PNLD 2018 edict and the activities of one of the didactic works approved in this program were analyzed. To achieve this goal, we follow the qualitative approach of research and take as theoretical basis the conception of teaching of geography defended by Milton Santos (2006) and Helena Callai (1999, 2001, 2004). The results of the analysis of the data set generated in the investigation showed that, although the selected work develops scientific thinking, it was noted that the issue of promotion is more the teacher's investigative posture than the didactic material. |

Los editores producen libros que cumplen con estos criterios y los envían para su selección por el Ministerio de Educación (MEC). Los trabajos aprobados se presentan en la Guía de libros de texto. Con esta guía en mano, los maestros y coordinadores de la red estatal del país eligen los libros que adoptarán y esperan su distribución por el Fondo Nacional para el Desarrollo de la Educación (FNDE). Esta investigación investigó si los criterios de evaluación de PNLD 2018 permitieron la construcción de cultura y espíritu científico en los libros de texto de geografía de la escuela secundaria. Para ello, se analizaron los criterios publicados en el edicto PNLD 2018 y las actividades de uno de los trabajos didácticos aprobados en este programa. Para lograr este objetivo, seguimos el enfoque cualitativo de la investigación y tomamos como base teórica la concepción de la enseñanza de la geografía defendida por Milton Santos (2006) y Helena Callai (1999, 2001, 2004). Los resultados del análisis del conjunto de datos generado en la investigación mostraron que, aunque el trabajo seleccionado desarrolla el pensamiento científico, se observó que el tema de la promoción es más la postura de investigación del profesor que el material didáctico.O Programa Nacional do Livro e do Material Didático (PNLD) possui diversos critérios de aprovação. As editoras produzem livros conforme esses critérios e os inscrevem para a seleção elaborada pelo Ministério da Educação (MEC). As obras aprovadas são apresentadas no Guia do Livro Didático. Com esse guia em mãos, os professores e coordenadores das redes estaduais do país escolhem os livros que adotarão e aguardam a sua distribuição pelo Fundo Nacional de Desenvolvimento da Educação (FNDE). Esta pesquisa investigou se os critérios de avaliação do PNLD 2018 possibilitaram a construção da cultura e do espírito científico nos livros didáticos de Geografia de Ensino Médio. Para tanto, foram analisados os critérios publicados no edital do PNLD 2018 e as atividades de uma das obras didáticas aprovada nesse programa. Para atingir tal meta, seguimos a abordagem qualitativa de pesquisa e tomamos como base teórica a concepção de ensino de Geografia defendida por Milton Santos (2006) e Helena Callai (1999, 2001, 2004).
