WHAT DO STUDIES SHOW ABOUT THE CONTENTS PRESENT IN TEXTBOOKS FOR TEACHING ELECTROCHEMICAL CELLS?

Resumo: | Textbooks are part of school life, and they are often the only didactic material used for teaching. Thus, constant monitoring of the contents and approaches presented in them is necessary, mainly on themes that involve more abstract concepts. This manuscript presents the results of bibliographical research that aimed to analyze works published in the literature that investigated how electrochemical cells are developed in textbooks. The bibliographic survey was carried out in Google Academic, Scielo, and Portal Capes databases. After applying selection and exclusion criteria, twelve publications were elected that constituted the corpus of this research. Discussions were based on four categories of analysis: Experimental Approach, STSE/Environmental Approach, Images and Representations, and Theoretical and Conceptual Approach. The results indicate that important aspects of teaching concepts of electrochemistry are deserving the attention of researchers, resulting in improved quality of content available in books. They also indicate obstacles that still need to be overcome, such as mistaken conceptual approaches, as in the concept of electrode potential, movement of ions and electrons in electrochemical cells; recurrent use of images for illustrative purposes only; and the occurrence of experimental proposals still with a procedural character in the analyzed books. |

Por lo tanto, es necesario un seguimiento constante de los contenidos y enfoques que allí se presentan, principalmente en temas que involucran conceptos más abstractos. Este manuscrito presenta los resultados de una investigación bibliográfica que tuvo como objetivo analizar trabajos publicados en la literatura que investigaron las pilas galvânicas en los libros de texto. El levantamiento bibliográfico se realizó en las bases de datos Google Scholar, Scielo y Portal Capes. En lugar de aplicar criterios de selección y exclusión, se eligieron doce publicaciones que constituyeron el corpus de esta investigación. Las discusiones se basaron en cuatro categorías de análisis: Enfoque Experimental, CTSA/Enfoque Ambiental, Imágenes y Representaciones y Enfoque Teórico y Conceptual. Los resultados indican que aspectos importantes que involucran conceptos de electroquímica han merecido la atención de los estudiosos, garantizando avances en la calidad del contenido disponible en los libros. También hay obstáculos que aún deben superarse, como los enfoques conceptuales erróneos; uso recurrente de imágenes con función meramente ilustrativa; y la ocurrencia de propuestas experimentales de carácter procedimental.Os livros didáticos estão presentes em uma significativa proporção de escolas, fazem parte do cotidiano escolar e muitas vezes é o único material didático utilizado para o ensino. Assim, são necessários constantes acompanhamentos dos conteúdos e das abordagens neles apresentados, principalmente sobre temáticas que envolvem conceitos mais abstratos. Neste manuscrito são apresentados os resultados de uma pesquisa bibliográfica cujo objetivo foi analisar trabalhos publicados na literatura que investigaram como a temática das pilhas galvânicas são abordadas nos livros didáticos. O levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado nas bases de dados Google Acadêmico, Scielo e Portal Capes. Após aplicados critérios de seleção e exclusão, foram eleitas doze publicações que constituíram o corpus desta pesquisa. As discussões foram pautadas em quatro categorias de análise, a saber: Abordagem Experimental, Enfoque CTSA/Ambiental, Imagens e Representações e Enfoque Teórico e Conceitual. Os resultados indicam que aspectos importantes, envolvendo conceitos de eletroquímica, vêm merecendo a atenção de estudiosos, garantindo avanços na qualidade do conteúdo disponibilizados nos livros.
