Resumo: | Objective: Analyzes the connectivity, through the method of bibliographic coupling between authors, of the academic genealogy network composed of researchers with research productivity grants coming from the researcher Jacob Palis Junior. Methodology: It uses the concepts of diachronic author recitation and citation identity to promote the coupling between the researchers that make up Jacob's academic genealogy network. Identifies 12 descendants, being 7 advisees and 5 academic grandchildren of Jacob, retrieves all articles produced by these researchers in the Web Of Science database, extracts the cited references and calculates the coupling frequencies from three different perspectives: authors cited in common, authors recited in common, and, normalized values via Salton Cosine. The coupling between supervisors and mentees, and between Jacob and his academic grandchildren, were calculated and the Kruskal-Wallis test was later applied to verify significant differences between the coupling values in the two generations analyzed. Results: It detects coupling in the two analyzed generations, so that the coupling between Jacob and his advisees and between Jacob and his academic grandchildren are not statistically different from each other. Conclusion: It concludes that the bibliographic coupling method applied to academic genealogy networks offers not only a new topological connectivity metric, but also a way to assess continuity of scientific currents in orientation networks. |
