Study of information behavior of archival unit managers: the case of brazilian senate archive

Resumo: Objective: Deals the informational behavior of managers of the archival units that compose the Brazilian Senate Archive, with the aim of discussing the relationship between information, the archive manager and their working environment in the decisionmaking process. Methodology: It is characterized as a qualitative, descriptive study and adopts the case study as a research strategy. Data collection from the managers of the archival units was carried out through a structured interview. Results: Identifies the profile of managers of archival units, the main information and sources of information used and elements that make it difficult for managers to access information in the decision-making process. It presents the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the access to information for managers and on the development of activities in the units, as well as improvements to be carried out regarding the interaction between managers and users of the Archive. Performs SWOT analysis in the studied environment to identify relevant information that support the decision-making managers, to verify the strategic position to be followed by the Brazilian Senate Archive and to propose improvements. Conclusions: It is considered that the monitoring of internal and external environments to the Brazilian Senate Archive and the attention to information demands managers of its archival units collaborate to improve decisions, in the comply of the managers attributions and in the improvement of information products and services offered.

Metodología: Se caracteriza por ser un estudio cualitativo, descriptivo y adopta el estudio de caso como estrategia de investigación. La recolección de datos con los gerentes de las unidades de archivo se realizó a través de una entrevista estructurada. Resultados: Identifica el perfil de los gestores de unidades archivísticas, las principales informaciones y fuentes de información utilizadas y los elementos que dificultan el acceso de los gestores a la información en la toma de decisiones. Presenta los impactos de la pandemia de la Covid-19 en el acceso a la información de los gestores y en el desarrollo de las actividades en las unidades, además de discutir mejoras a realizar en la interacción entre gestores y usuarios del Archivo. Realiza un análisis SWOT en el ambiente estudiado para identificar información relevante para apoyar la toma de decisiones de los gerentes, verificar la postura estratégica a seguir por el Archivo del Senado Brasileño y proponer mejoras. Conclusiones: Se considera que el monitoreo de los ambientes interno y externo del Archivo del Senado Brasileño y la satisfacción de las demandas de información de los gestores de sus unidades archivísticas colaboran en la mejora de las decisiones, en el cumplimiento de las atribuciones de los gestores y en la mejora de la productos y servicios informativos ofrecidos.Objetivo: Trata do comportamento informacional dos gestores das unidades arquivísticas que compõem o Arquivo do Senado Federal, com o intuito de discutir a relação entre informação, gestor de arquivo e seu ambiente de atuação no aperfeiçoamento do processo de tomada de decisão. Metodologia: Caracteriza-se como um estudo qualitativo, de cunho descritivo e adota como estratégia de investigação o estudo de caso. A coleta de dados junto aos gestores das unidades arquivísticas foi realizada por meio de entrevista estruturada. Resultados: Identifica o perfil dos gestores das unidades arquivísticas, as principais informações e fontes de informação utilizadas e elementos que dificultam o acesso à informação pelos gestores no processo decisório. Apresenta impactos da pandemia da Covid-19 no acesso à informação dos gestores e no desenvolvimento das atividades nas unidades, bem como discorre sobre aprimoramentos a serem executados quanto à interação dos gestores com os usuários do Arquivo. Realiza análise SWOT no ambiente estudado para identificação de informações relevantes no apoio à tomada de decisão dos gestores, para verificação da postura estratégica a ser seguida pelo Arquivo do Senado Federal e para proposição de aperfeiçoamentos.
