Resumo: This paper aims at discussing the relations between the rentiers determinations in education, specifically with regard to the formation of future basic education teachers. It asks itself: how the principles that move higher education, governed by rentiers determinations, contribute for a strict formation, distant from actions for students’ emancipation? The concept of formation from Meszaros, Tonet and Duarte is discussed for clarifying the meaning and its possibilities in the society we live in, highlighting the rentiers determinations at private and public higher education institutions, and the consequences for the teachers formation. These aspects correspond to the quantitative and qualitative data obtained from a research entitled The problem of knowledge in the basic education teachers formation. A study aboutLicentiateship in São Paulo, developed in Licentiateship courses offered by public and private higher education institutions. In summary, the obtained information allows to assert that the rentiers determinations express another meaning in the teachers formation and in meaning of teachers’ work.

In summary, the obtained information allows to assert that the rentiers determinations express another meaning in the teachers formation and in meaning of teachers’ work.O presente texto tem como objetivo debater as articulações entre as determinações rentistas presentes na educação, mais especificamente no que concerne à formação de futuros professores da educação básica. Indaga-se em que medida os princípios que movem o ensino superior, regido por determinações rentistas, contribuem para uma formação restrita e distante de ações voltadas para a emancipação dos estudantes.Discutimos o conceito de formação a partir de Mészaros, Tonet e Duarte, com o objetivo de explicitar o significado e as suas possibilidades na sociedade em que vivemos, destacando as determinações rentistas postas às instituições de ensino superior públicas e privadas e as consequências para a formação inicial de professores. Esses aspectos correspondem aos dados quantitativos e qualitativos da pesquisa intitulada O conhecimento dos saberes a ensinar na formação de professores da educação básica. Um estudo sobre aslicenciaturas no Estado de São Paulo, realizada junto a cursos de licenciatura oferecidos por instituições de ensino superior públicas e privadas.
