The reading of Macbeth in the English language classes in high school: an experience in the classroom

Resumo: The procedures and results achieved with the use of literary texts in the English language classes in Padre Anchieta School, Parana State, Brazil, are reported in this article. The literary composition chosen was Macbeth, by the English writer William Shakespeare, and the target public was the students from the tenth grade of high school. During the development of the project besides reading Macbeth, the students were exposed to the biography of the author, some summary of his works and watched films. This work culminated with the rereading of the composition in form of plays and videos.

This work culminated with the rereading of the composition in form of plays and videos. En este artículo están relatados los procedimientos y resultados obtenidos con el uso de textos literarios en las clases de lengua inglesa en el Colegio Estadual Padre Anchieta en el Estado de Paraná, Brasil. La obra elegida fue Macbeth, del escritor inglés William Shakespeare, y el público blanco fueron los alumnos del segundo año de la Enseñanza Secundaria. Durante el desarrollo del proyecto, los alumnos, además de hacer la lectura de Macbeth, tuvieron contacto con la biografía, resúmenes de otras obras de Shakespeare, así como con algunas películas. Este trabajo culminó con una relectura de la obra en forma de piezas teatrales y vídeos. Neste artigo, estão relatados os procedimentos e resultados obtidos com o uso de textos literários nas aulas de língua inglesa no Colégio Estadual Padre Anchieta no Estado do Paraná. A obra escolhida foi Macbeth, do escritor inglês William Shakespeare, e o público-alvo foram os alunos do segundo ano do Ensino Médio. Durante o desenvolvimento do projeto, os alunos, além de fazerem a leitura de Macbeth, tiveram contato com a biografia, resumos de outras obras de Shakespeare, assim como com alguns filmes.
