Memes about science and the reconfiguration of the language of scientific divulgation in cyberculture

Resumo: Memes in contemporaneity have been playing an important role as one more digital device that acquires new applicabilities and is redimensioned in Digital Culture. When it comes to scientific dissemination, they establish a production of distinct scenarios and new ways of manifesting this web production. The article intends to analyze the production and the reproduction of memes about science. This is possible through the construction of a kind of language that articulates different morphological, syntactic and semantic web elements, such as intertextuality, humor and aesthetic representation. To achieve it, a qualitative research with an explorative approach was conducted in Facebook pages, searching for, among other elements, how a form of scientific communication is created, in a parallel way, through the production of memes, relocating and proposing a new place for the circulation of information, ideas and scientific facts. It is observed that the meme means, through the optics of this work, the production of scientific dissemination that does not necessarily come from an ‘institutionalized place’, but that manifests in the midst of a myriad of new forms of popularizing scientific knowledge. Therefore, it is funded by the idea of a different way of disseminating science, having as outlook the use of digital technologies and the ability of authorship of web users in digital culture.

Con respecto a la difusión científica, establece la producción de diferentes escenarios y nuevas formas de manifestar este tipo de producción en red. El texto pretende analizar la producción y reproducción de memes sobre ciencia desde la perspectiva de su lenguaje digital. Esto ocurre a partir de la construcción de un tipo de comunicación que articula diferentes elementos en red, sintácticos y semánticos, como la intertextualidad, el humor y la representación estética. Es una investigación cualitativa con un enfoque exploratorio en las páginas de Facebook, que busca, entre otros elementos, cómo, a través de la producción de memes, se crea una forma de comunicación científica en paralelo, desplazando y proponiendo un lugar, otro para la circulación de información, ideas y hechos científicos. Se observa que el meme significa, en la perspectiva de este trabajo, la producción de una difusión científica, que no necesariamente parte de un ‘lugar institucionalizado’, sino que se manifiesta en la miríada de nuevas formas de popularizar el conocimiento científico. Porque se basa en la idea de una forma diferente de diseminar la ciencia que tiene como panorama el uso de tecnologías digitales y la autoría de los usuarios de la red en la cultura digital.Os memes na contemporaneidade tem assumido um papel importante como mais um dispositivo que ganha novas aplicabilidades e redimensionamentos na Cultura Digital. No que se refere à divulgação científica, estabelece uma produção de cenários distintos e novas maneiras de manifestação dessa forma de produção em rede. O texto analisa a produção e a reprodução de memes acerca da ciência sob a ótica de sua linguagem digital. Isso se dá a partir da construção de um modelo de comunicação que articula diferentes elementos morfológicos, sintáticos e semânticos em rede, como intertextualidade, humor e representação estética. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa com abordagem exploratória em páginas do Facebook, buscando entender como a partir da produção dos memes cria-se, paralelamente, uma forma de comunicação científica, deslocando e propondo um lugar-outro de circulação de informação, de ideias e fatos científicos. Observa-se que o meme na ótica deste trabalho, articula a produção de uma divulgação científica, que não parte obrigatoriamente de um ‘lugar institucionalizado’, mas que se manifesta em meio a uma miríade de novas formas de popularização de conhecimentos científicos.
