Resumo: | Qualification rules for female secretaries are analyzed within the context of the education for professions in the 1960s and 1970s, featuring two Brazilian handbooks, namely, Manual da secretária moderna [Handbook for the modern female secretary], by Helena Montezuma, and Você, secretária: um manual para o desenvolvimento profissional, [You, female secretary: Handbook for professional development], by Neris Bertocco and Angela Schneider Loyola. Discussions are undertaken on the manner the educational discourse for working as a female secretary occurred. Relationships are investigated between female education and the conforming, moralizing and modeling performance in work, coupled to the construction of the profession´s culture with new significations for the 1970s. Results showed a type of education accompanied by the persistence of tradition on the feminine roles, with great difficulties for rupturing the shackles of female conditions in society. |

Neste trabalho analisa-se a qualificação para secretários em duas obras literárias brasileiras voltadas para a educação do ofício nas décadas de 1960 e 1970: Manual da Secretária Moderna, de Helena Montezuma e Você, secretária: um manual de atualização profissional, de Néris Bertocco e Ângela Schneider Loyola. Buscou-se demonstrar como ocorreu o discurso da educação para o Secretariado, verificando as relações com a educação para a mulher e a intenção moralizadora e conformadora para a atuação no ofício, bem como a relação da educação para o trabalho dos secretários com a construção de uma cultura da profissão sob a intenção de novos significados na década de 1970. As análises apontam para uma educação acompanhada da persistência da tradição sobre o feminino, esboçando dificuldade do rompimento das amarras da própria condição das mulheres na sociedade.
