Resumo:  The article aims to analyze the school library and children as users, from concepts produced to the challenges that remain. It is based on the principle that the school library is an environment whose concept has been transformed throughout history, being for children a space of circulation and production of knowledge, information, knowledge and new relationships in this field, reading and research the central focus. This is a theoretical study, therefore an investigation of a bibliographic nature. Concludes on the importance of the school library in the formation of the child, from the approach with books, literature and research. However, this environment still needs to overcome old challenges that include re-signifying its space and collection from the public that attends it, especially the children.

Se basa en el principio de que la biblioteca escolar es un entorno cuyo concepto se ha transformado a lo largo de la historia, siendo para los niños un espacio de circulación y producción de conocimiento, información, conocimiento y nuevas relaciones en este campo, lectura e investigación como el foco central. Este es un estudio teórico, por lo tanto, una investigación de carácter bibliográfico. Concluye sobre la importancia de la biblioteca escolar en la formación del niño, desde el enfoque con libros, literatura e investigación. Sin embargo, este local todavía necesita superar los viejos desafíos que incluyen volver a significar su espacio y la colección del público que lo atiende, especialmente los niños.O artigo objetiva analisar a biblioteca escolar e as crianças como usuárias, desde conceitos produzidos aos desafios que permanecem. Parte do princípio de que a biblioteca escolar é um ambiente cujo conceito vem se transformando ao longo da história, sendo para as crianças um espaço de circulação e produção de saberes, informações, conhecimentos e de novas relações nesse âmbito, tendo a leitura e a pesquisa escolar o foco central. Trata-se de estudo teórico, portanto uma investigação de cunho bibliográfico. Conclui sobre a importância da biblioteca escolar na formação da criança, a partir da aproximação com os livros, a literatura e a pesquisa.
